Would work great as a night light or reading light but then has the hidden camera option. Accepts sd card, bright / dim option and camera has multiple quality settings up to 1080. Video provided by company shows installation directions. Only hiccup I had was connecting to WiFi which I just redownloaded the app and it worked great
